Best Actress Awards

The Oscars is the oldest entertainment awards ceremony. Other awards, like the Emmy Awards and the Grammy Award, are all modeled after the Academy Awards. The various category winners are awarded a copy of a statuette, commonly known as the Oscar.

There are currently 25 Award categories, even if the Academy Award for Best Original Musical hasn't been awarded since 1984.

The Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role goes to an actress for a specific performance in a single movie during the previous year. Nowadays, the Best Actress category is limited to five nominees each year.

So far (2016), the Oscar has been awarded 74 actresses. Only one actress has won the award four times. The youngest actress to receive the award was only 21 years (1987) and the oldest 80 years (1990).
