Mogadishu, known locally as Xamar or Hamar, is the capital and most populous city of Somalia.

Helsinki is the capital and largest city of Finland. It is also Finland’s major cultural, educational, financial, and political center as well as one of northern Europe’s major cities. Finland is a Nordic country bordered by Sweden to the west, Norway to the north, Russia to the east and Estonia to the south over the Gulf of Finland.

Bogotá is the capital city of Colombia.

Montevideo is the capital and largest city of Uruguay, South America.

Luanda is the capital and largest city in Angola, and the country’s most populous and important city.

Amman is the capital of Jordan. It is the country’s economic, political and cultural centre. Amman has a population of more than 4 million and a land area of 1,680 square km.

São Paulo is the largest city in Brazil and South America, but it is not the capital city (Rio de Janeiro is the capital of Brazil). Caracas is the capital city of Venezuela, Lima is the capital of Peru, and Santiago the capital of Chile.

Ankara is the capital of Turkey since 1923 and the country’s second largest city, Istanbul being the largest.

The city was founded in 1890 and originally named Fort Salisbury after the UK Prime Minister Lord Salisbury. Salisbury later became the seat of the Southern Rhodesian (later Rhodesian) government and, between 1953-63, the capital of the Central African Federation. It was renamed Harare in 1982, after Zimbabwe gained independence from the United Kingdom.

The Swiss city of Geneva is known as the peace capital of the world. It is home to the United Nations European headquarters and many peace negotiations have taken place in the city. But it is not a capital city. The capital of Switzerland is Bern.
